At Ray White Hawke’s Bay, we believe leadership is about more than results, it’s rooted in service, innovation, and community. Few embody these values more than our own Elanor MacDonald, whose career in real estate spans over 25 years and whose contributions to the profession continue to inspire.
A Lifelong Commitment to Real Estate
Elanor joined the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) in 1997 and quickly became an active voice in the industry. From early service on the District Committee to her appointment as REINZ Ambassador when the Real Estate Agents Authority was established, she has consistently championed professionalism, collaboration, and integrity.
As Ambassador, Elanor has played a pivotal role in organising annual functions and industry events that bring professionals together across brands. These gatherings not only celebrate achievements but also create opportunities for networking and knowledge-sharing, raising standards across the industry.
From Sales Leader to Business Owner
Her career began in Lower Hutt, where she quickly rose to become the Number One salesperson in her area. In 2005, she relocated to Napier, Hawke’s Bay to establish her first business under an international franchise. Since then, Elanor has owned and operated both franchise and independent models, giving her a unique perspective on the diverse challenges and opportunities facing today’s real estate professionals.
Now leading Ray White Hawke’s Bay, Elanor continues to combine her passion for client service with a drive to build a high-performing, innovative team. Her leadership has been recognised through numerous awards, including the Chairman’s Elite, Elite Business Leader, and Premier Business Leader accolades across Ray White offices in Hastings and Napier.
Championing Innovation and Technology
Elanor’s story in Hawke’s Bay is also one of transformation. From introducing the first full-colour property magazine to embracing the shift to digital, she has consistently been ahead of the curve in marketing and technology. These innovations were not without resistance, but her vision helped reshape how properties are presented and how clients connect with real estate professionals.
Today, Elanor sees technology as a tool to free up more time for personal connection. “The future of real estate is less about desks and more about people,” she says. “By embracing digital tools, we can spend more time where it matters, supporting clients and building relationships.”
A Leader for the Future
Elanor’s professional philosophy is grounded in adaptability and forward thinking. She invests time in learning, experimenting, and staying on top of emerging trends, ensuring her business and colleagues remain prepared for the future.
Her journey reflects a career defined by service, results, and innovation and a clear commitment to lifting the profession for everyone involved.
At Ray White, we are proud to celebrate leaders like Elanor who continue to raise the bar for real estate in New Zealand.
